Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026
stackpicker ("we", "us") publishes reviews and comparisons of business software. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit, why, and the choices you have — including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What we collect
- Analytics. Aggregate, anonymized usage data via Google Analytics 4 (GA4), loaded through Google Tag Manager (GTM) — pages viewed, approximate location (country/city, not precise geolocation), device type, and on-site events like scroll depth and outbound clicks. GA4 does not store your full IP address.
- Attribution. If you arrive via a campaign link (e.g. a Google or Meta ad), we store the campaign parameters in the
sp_attributioncookie so we can tell which ad or page led to a signup — see the cookie table below. - Affiliate clicks. When you click a "Try it free" / "Get deal" button, we generate a random click ID and pass it to the destination company as a SubID, so they can tell us which click converted. We do not send your name, email, or IP address to affiliate networks.
- Email address.Only if you voluntarily submit it via one of our newsletter signup forms. See "Email & newsletter" below.
Cookies we use
Analytics and advertising cookies are blocked by default (Consent Mode v2) and only start storing data after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner — this applies to every visitor, not only those in the EU/EEA.
| Cookie / storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sp_consent | Remembers your cookie consent choice (accept/reject). | Until you clear browser storage |
| sp_attribution | First-party attribution cookie — captures utm_source/medium/campaign/content/term, gclid, fbclid, referrer, and landing page on your first visit so a later affiliate click can be matched to the campaign that brought you here. | 90 days |
| _ga, _ga_*, _gid | Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) — pageviews and on-site events. Set only after you accept cookies. | Up to 2 years (Google default) |
| GTM / gtag consent state | Google's Consent Mode v2 signal that tells GA4, Google Ads, and any Meta Pixel tag inside our GTM container whether they're allowed to store data. Defaults to "denied" until you accept. | Session (re-read from sp_consent on load) |
Ad pixels
If we run paid campaigns, a Meta Pixel may be loaded through the same GTM container to measure ad performance. Like GA4, it only fires after you accept cookies and is subject to the same Consent Mode v2 gating.
Email & newsletter
If you submit your email through a signup form, it's sent to our email service provider to send you the content you signed up for. We use double opt-in — you'll get a confirmation email and won't be added to any list until you confirm. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. We never sell your email address.
Your rights (GDPR/CCPA)
If you're in the EU/EEA, UK, or California, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@stackpicker.example.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever this policy changes materially. See also our affiliate disclosure and terms of use.
